Thimble Club

INTRODUCING THE "THIMBLE CLUB" LADIES:

Thimble Club is a group of women who get together once a month for the primary purpose of making quilts. Many ladies have enjoyed this pursuit over the more than 30 years of the group’s existence. Many gifted women have come and gone over the years, but still this "good work" continues.

Cotton fabrics have been donated to the group over the years. Both twin size and baby quilts have been made and given away, some locally, and many to mission points around the world.

Many quilts have been given to Hogar de Niños de Emmanuel, children’s home in Juarez, Mexico. Most recently, 10 twin size quilts were sent to Romania for Livada Orphan Care. www.livada.org

Along with the stitching, we have good fellowship over the quilting table and the lunch table. All are welcome.
·         We meet the last Thursday of each month (except November and December) in Room 20 at Santa Rosa Christian Church.
·         Time: 10:00 AM till 2:00 PM – with time out for lunch.
·         Bring: a bag lunch, and your favorite THIMBLE to use.
For more information or to participate in the Thimble Club, please contact the facilitator: Carla Clark, 578-5571 or info@srchristianchurch.org.

The Thimble Club and Livada Orphan Care

The story is that over a year, The Thimble Club made these quilts. Carla Clark asked me if I thought we could use them over in Romania. I told her absolutely. So in October Carla delivered me 10 hand-made quilts. I shipped them to Chicago where they sat until early January when they were sent via a container ship to Romania and delivered to our staff at Fundatia LOC in Targu Mures. They arrived in mid-February and by prior agreement we waited until I arrived to deliver them. We chose a state home that was opened four years ago. We were all together when the girls were picked up at the huge orphanage in town and driven to their new home--not having a clue what a "home" was until we arrived. Frankly, the visit was nearly overwhelming since these girls don't ever have visitors--they have been wonderfully absorbed into the village life where their home is located--Campanita.
